About
It had been almost a decade since singer/songwriter Jay Ro released any new music.
Call it writer's block. Call it the busyness of life.
The last several years brought a massive amount of change, both personally and musically. After years of playing in rock bands and grinding out show after show, Ro found himself at a crossroads. He needed to take a step away, to take some time and think/ponder/reflect on what music really meant to him. And while the business side of the music business was exhausting to him, the actual process of making music still gave him energy, excitement, passion.
It wasn't until Ro met with audio producer Roland Lim back in 2015 that he uncovered not only a like-minded cohort, but also the means to bring his musical ideas to life. The resultant EP, "The Method of Moments," finds itself bursting with loads of energy and ideas, perhaps indicating that this outlet for creativity was long overdue.
Named after a statistical method for estimating population parameters, "The Method of Moments" does not stick to a particular style/sound. Rather Ro gave himself the room to simply create, and not worry about anything more than making the best songs he could.
Now living in LA, Ro already has designs on future releases to come. He can be seen performing solo shows, leading worship at City Light Church, and playing violin with the progressive-rock band Hidden Staircases.
